New Year's Resolutions

I have two major year-long projects this year. 52 Books in 52 Weeks and Jorje’s Mamatography project. The rest of the things I want to accomplish this year have due dates before the year ends, way before the year ends.

My stereotypical goal is to tone up. I plan to have this done by the end of March at the earliest and beginning of July at the latest. Honestly? I’m one of *those* people—toning up comes easily to me. I just have to work at it and I’m lazy.

Yesterday, I mentioned my be-a-better-writer goal. I’m planning for this to involve a few different challenges. There’s NaNoWriMo in November, a poem a day in April, Camp NaNoWriMo, and then there are constantly various homeschooling and parenting carnivals going on.

I want to cut down my wardrobe by half. It’s huge and full of things I never wear.

I want to be closer to my God. I’m happier the closer I get to Him and everyone around me gets happier by default. The woman sets the mood of the house, after all. I don’t do well with reading the Bible straight through or even setting out to do it all in a year. I like having opinions and things to think about as I go through. I have YouVersion on my phone that’s full of devotionals and there are plenty online. I’m starting with a Truth devotional. (More on that tomorrow.)

The best for last: my family. I want to be more there for my daughters. They get so happy when I play with them, put my hands in for the Super Why circle, and color. Is it that simple? Why haven’t I done it sooner then? The fun part is they’re old enough to do simple counting board games now, like Trouble Board Game
and Mancala (Folding Set)
. Maybe a family night? I want to communicate better with the love of my life. I’m the girl the internet makes fun of: What’s wrong? Nothing. You sure? Yes. ::secretly furious:: It’s not fun for either of us.

Obviously, some of these things will need more fine-tuning over the year. I’ll work out the details as I go. Some of these things are easy. I already know how to tone up. I already started planning my writing year.

I have a long, productive year planned. I'm excited. Are you?
